Am I eligible?

If you are a B.C. resident with a valid CareCard and you have taken at least five medications within the last six months, you may be eligible to receive Medication Review Services.

Do I need a doctor's referral?

You don't need a doctor's referral to have a Medication Review, although your doctor may suggest it. Talk to your community pharmacist for more information.

Can any pharmacist provide a medication review?

All pharmacists in B.C. are qualified to conduct medication reviews. Pharmacists are convenient and accessible medication experts. Whether you are visiting your pharmacist to have a prescription filled, or simply in the neighbourhood, ask your pharmacist about this service.

Will a medication review improve my health?

Medication reviews aim to help you better understand your medications, which will make you more confident and help you make better decisions about your health. Medication reviews may identify issues, such as an interaction between your medications or changes that may benefit you. Your pharmacist may make recommendations to the way you take your medications to help you get the best result.

What can I expect from my medication review?

Your pharmacist will:

  • Provide you with a one-on-one appointment in a quiet area of the pharmacy
  • Review what medications you are taking, why you are taking them, and how best to take them.
  • Provide you with a Best Possible Medication History to keep as a reminder for taking your medications, or for you to share with health care professionals
  • Identify medication management issues
  • Make suggestions or recommendations if necessary

For more information on Medication Review Services, talk with your pharmacist.
